Media Camp Nottingham 2

Em and I went to Media Camp Nottingham 2 yesterday, and had a wonderful time. There were some really engaging speakers, who really made you think differently about social networking.

The interesting thing about the event was we originally found it out from @walkerama on Twitter, who raved about MCN 1. We then saw news about MCN2 through a tweet from a completely different Twitter contact maybe 6 months later. Following the link from their tweet we were able to sign up to the event. What I think is amazing about this is how we have become a real fan of Media Camp Nottingham through a couple of unrelated tweets. I think this really sums up the power of social networking, and how it can be applied to any event, service or product.

So what about the event, well Glenn Le Santo @lesanto was a really engaging speaker. His two seminars were both extremly thought provoking. You can check the first one of them here http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/5747748 .

We also really enjoyed Phil Campbell’s @philcampbell talk about Posterous, which gave us some food for thought about how we could use it. Posterous is a very powerful free platform which is perfect for those who are less tech savy – all you need to start blogging is an email address or mobile phone. To update your blog you simply email the details to a Posterous email address. Phil was a really interesting character, and his focus on being socialy responsible and using tech for good made for a really interesting change from it always being about money.

We met lots of lovely people, and hope to keep in touch both via the social networking way and the old fashioned way – over a pint. :-)
